BEST(βœ”) and WORST (βœ–) Natural Hair Products of 2017

Hey Guys πŸ˜ƒ

As the title of the post, you know what I will be talking about today. Although the majority of my natural hair routine is DIY products, I use store-bought products. The store-bought products I use are deep conditioners as well as any “trending” natural hair products I choose to buy. I am a hoarder so I have kept the products for the year so don’t judge me. These are the BEST and WORST products for me, you’re list may be different so feel free to share in the comments 😊

I will start with the WORST products to get the bad ones out of the way.

Eco Style Coconut Styling Gel, 8 Ounce

So this is the worst Eco styler gel I have ever used. Even though the container is empty, it sucked. When I didn’t have time to make a flaxseed gel, I used it. The product was great for twist outsΒ since my definitions were on point, and the sheenΒ  is amazing. However, it left my hair VERYYYY FLAKY which I couldn’t stand. I don’t like flakes on my clothes, bed, even my water bottles. So this product was a no for me.

Eco Style Black Castor & Flaxseed Oil Deep Conditioning Therapy – 12 oz

Another eco style product made the worst list. I bought this product on impulse in late December because I like eco styler products and it was “trending”. The product failed for me because it was watery. My hair loves thick deep conditioners as opposed to watery ones. Whenever I apply a thick deep conditioner then apply the heat, my hair feels soft and my curls are popping. However, my hair just felt moist not moisturised, and there is a difference.

Shea Moisture Strengthen & Restore Leave-In Conditioner 16 oz

I have never been a shea moisture fan because the products just never work for me. Since the product is raved about by a lot of naturals within the natural hair community, I would love for it to work for me. Sadly, it doesn’t. I normally do the LOC method to moisturise my hair with water, any oil and shea butter, but decided to try this product. However, it did not moisturise my hair. It was too watery so my hair felt wet but not moisturised. And, my curls weren’t defined. So overall it sucked.

Now onto the GOOD of 2017 πŸŽ‰

Eco Style Gel Black Castor and Flaxseed Oil, 8 Ounce

HANDS DOWN THE BEST ECO STYLER GEL EVAAAAAAAA. Eco styler did a great job with this product. Firstly, it smells amazing. Secondly, it will lay your edges for days. Thirdly, it lets your hair glisten. Fourthly, it defines your curls. It’s just overall a bomb hair product. If you haven’t tried it, what are you waiting for?

Aunt Jackie’s Don’t Shrink Flaxseed Elongating Curling Gel, 15 Ounce

ANOTHA ONE — THIS IS A GREAT GEL FOR TWIST OUTS AND BRAID OUTS. My twist outs have been bomb(er) ever since I started using this product. I was attracted to it because I make a DIY gel however while I was in Trinidad on an internship, I had no time to search for flaxseeds then make it. So, this was the next best option. The best option indeed because with the product my twist outs lasted for the week, my hair was moisturised, and curls were defined. As well as for the product it smelled great and a little goes a VERY long way.

Cantu Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque, 12 Ounce

BOMB(lol). I purchased this because I needed a long-term deep conditioner when I was going to Trinidad for 4 months and it worked miraculously. I am in love with it. The deep conditioner is very thick (yes I like thick products), defines your curls and leaves it hydrated.

Moco de Gorila Estilo Punk Extreme Hold Gel 11.9 oz (340g)

MY FAVOURITE EDGE GEL HANDS DOWN. Not only is this product absolutely affordable but it lays your edges for the 365 days of the year(lol). If you are like me and your edges never stay laid, this is the cure ladies. I suggest using it sparingly because it is full of chemicals that I know are not good for our hair.

Thanks for reading my post today for #ManeMondays
