DIY Super Growth Oil For Your Natural Hair —
I created this growth oil because I wanted to grow out my heat damage so I can finally cut it. In addition, my hair will be healthy for my graduation pictures in October [Don’t quote me on this]. I choose these ingredients because they are known to promote hair growth. As well as promotes moisture, enhances shine, prevents breakage, solves scalp issues, and the list goes on and on.
The ingredients I choose are:
- Alma Oil [Thanks to Meikah for getting this for me from Trinidad]
- Coconut Oil [Dad with the hookup]
- Castor Oil [Sister with the hookup]
- Olive Oil [Bought in the supermarket]
- Glycerin [Bought at Earth Elements]
- Lemongrass Oil [Bought at Earth Elements]
- Peppermint Oil [Bought at Earth Elements]
- Teatree Oil [Bought at Earth Elements]
- Rosemary Oil [Bought at Earth Elements]
Why I Choose The Oils:
Alma Oil – If you watch any of curly proverbz video on youtube then you know of this oil. If ya don’t then I gotcha. Alma Oil comes from the gooseberry tree that grows in the Middle East and India. It is known for its conditioning properties for the hair shaft. So it strengthens, nourishes and moistures your hair shaft. As well as, if you massage it on your scalp it will increase blood flow thus promoting hair growth.
Coconut Oil – This is the best oil for natural hair, although some people may be sensitive towards. I don’t see a big difference for it in my hair but that doesn’t mean it’s not doing the job 😉 Coconut oil improves scalp health. So, if you’re experiencing certain scalp conditions this is what you need to use. In addition, it promotes shine and softness of your hair. Lastly, it is known to reduce and/or prevent split ends, and single strand knots.
Jamaican Black Castor Oil – The SUPER growth oil that everyone uses. Castor Oil promotes hair growth due to the ricinoleic found within it. In addition, it is a conditioner like the Alma oil, and aids in strengthening your hair.
Olive Oil – Olive oil is rich in mono-unsaturated fatty acids which are good for hair growth. In addition, the antioxidants that improve scalp health.
Glycerin – Glycerin is known as a humectant in the natural hair community. Humectants withdraw the moisture from the environment to your hair. In addition, it reduces frizz and defines your curls.
Essential Oils: Lemongrass, Peppermint, Teatree, and Rosemary oil all serve the same purpose. Essential oils improve the health of your scalp due to their antimicrobial properties. Therefore, it creates the perfect environment for your hair to grow. Lastly, they allow your mixtures to smell AHMAZING.
